Plasma Televisions – Advanced Technology of the Future, Today
October 12, 2009 by Pierre Leteuleux · Leave a Comment
Plasma televisions are the most ideal home theatre systems in terms of affording you space as well as offering a great crystal clear picture. The uses of plasma screens are vast in that they can be used during business meeting displayed in executive offices impressing customers during presentations as well as updateable signage displayed in stores, shopping malls or anywhere that will grab people’s undivided attention.
Plasma televisions are composed of thousands of low pressured sealed glass chambers which are filled with a mixture of neon and xenon gas and behind these glass chambers are colored phosphors of one of each color such as red, blue and green. When turned on these chambers of plasma radiate UV light which in turn strikes the phosphorus colours making them produce visible light.
The plasma television monitor is capable of displaying HDTV, regular TV as well as home videos. It can also be used as a computer monitor and can literally accept any video format. You will definitely use your plasma in various capacities for many years to come. The lifespan of a plasma television is around thirty thousand hours which is roughly around three to four years and this also depends how often you use it. Say you only use it around 5 to 8 hours a day you can then expect it to last for many years to come.
Once you have decided that you want a plasma television you need to consider the size of the room as well as the size of the area where you are going to place your TV screen before just going out and buying it. Things like how close the viewers will sit also need to be taken into account, although even if you are sitting relatively close you will still receive an exceptionally crystal clear picture. One should sit approximately two meters from the screen. The larger the screen is the further back one will need to sit.
The plasma television will afford you around thirty thousand hours of viewing time when it is used around the clock but if it is used at home and is only on for short periods of time then you can expect to have your plasma screen for many years. Regular TV, HDTV and home videos can be perfectly displayed on your plasma monitor as well as be used as a computer screen as it will virtually accept any video format type.
Any sort of magnetic field will not affect your plasma panel is anyway. Plasma televisions are extremely easy to use similar to plug in and just play. The industrial models will accept inputs from both video and data and be sure when choosing a plasma screen you get the right resolution which suits your needs and all plasma screens have standard VGA and some accept signals which extend much further out.
So whatever your needs are go online today and view the many designs available to choose from. There is a fortune of information and advice. Plasma televisions are in and the old conventional TV’s are fast becoming a thing of the past.
A Review Of The Apple iPod Touch
October 12, 2009 by Claire Greenway · Leave a Comment
In the three years that it’s been around, Apple iPod Touch has changed.
Some would purchase this as a music player, some to surf the internet
and some to play the inventive games utilising the tilt function on the
iPod Touch.
Now in its third generation, the iPod Touch has a reputation as the world’s
most feature-packed portable media player.
If you put this third generation release next to the second generation iPod Touch, they look
just about exactly the same. Small etchings on the back are the only thing that lets you distinguish
between the two.
Like it’s bigger sister, the iPhone 3GS, the 3rd generation Touch has a 3.5 inch touch screen that boasts
a 480×320 pixel resolution. Of course, even though the device is almost completely touch screen, Apple has
put some physical buttons on the touch; the hold switch, volume control and home button, but apart from that
the device is totally touch-screen.
The 3rd generation Touch is still 4.3 inches long, 2.3 inches wide and 0.33 inches deep, and there’s
still the curved steel back that will feel natural to you when you hold it, but will be a tad unstable when it
comes to putting the Touch down on the table.
The 3rd generation Touch and features walk hand in hand. The Touch will play your music, movies, TV shows and pictures,
view your email, browse the internet and view your favourite podcasts. On top of that is the many other features and
countless apps available, many for free, from the apps store. The apps store is available on the iPod Touch as well as on your
PC or Mac.
Performance is one of those things that Apple focuses on when they make improvements. Thanks to this, the third generation iPod Touch
has amazing, flowing graphics on its user interface and in it’s games, thanks to the new integration of the OpenGL graphics system. This
has been a major improvement for the Touch.
This is probably the only slight negative of the review; it looks like Apple have forgotten about audio quality improvements, something
which most competitors are working hard on. Not to say that the sound quality at the moment on the Touch is unsatisfactory, but an sound
upgrade is always welcome on what is predominantly a music player.
On the bad side, Apple seems to have been focusing on system speed and graphics rendering in opposition
to the audio and sound enhancement, which remains unchanged, whereas the makers of the Touch’s competition are rapidly improving their sound quality. That being aid
That being said, the iPod Touch still has sound that will definitely satisfy all.
If you are after your first ever Apple product, or are wanting to replace that
old iPod, this is the one for you.
If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone already, this may not be worth the upgrade,
but if you are after a new iPod Touch or are about to purchase your first Apple product,
let this be the first one!
A Little Knowledge Is A Useful Thing

Buying a TV takes some modern day knowledge due to the technology explosion of the past few years. It’s no longer just a choice between a couple of brand names and buying one that you believe in. The choices and the options have grown in huge proportions to what we used to have. And your TV is no longer just something to watch the news or a ball game, but it’s a total entertainment system, full of electronic functions and options that never existed before.
Installing your TV is going to be another fence to climb after you decide on which one to purchase. You need to be able to follow the manual and hook all the wires up properly in order to get it to function like you want it to. If you have to hire professionals to do it for you, it may run into more cash layout than you anticipated.
A very popular trend today is getting a ‘big-screen’ TV. Whenever you’re shopping for ANY TV, whether large or small, you need to keep in mind the size of the screen in proportion to the size of the room where it will be viewed. You don’t want to have to squint at one too small, or watch a blurry picture on one that’s too big and sitting too close.
Even if you’ve had a favorite brand for years, it pays to be open-minded for checking out some of the new TVs with new technology infused into them. Lots of new brands that you may not have heard of before are putting out excellent quality TVs and for good reasonable prices. There’s no shortage of choices for you to consider, and most all of them surpass the quality of TVs of the past.
Besides knowing what you want from your TV, you also have to meld that with what you want to spend. If you can nail these two facts down, then you’re ready to shop and compare TVs that fall into your shopping category. You’ve narrowed it down some, but you’ll still have plenty to look at, and many options to decide on.
If you decide to go with a high-definition TV then resolution becomes a factor. They are naturally higher in resolution than standard TVs, but they also vary from one to another. Plasma TVs seem to be all the rage now and rightly so, with their flat panel options and bright clear pictures. Also available in high definition are the LCDs, which are a bit less quality picture than the plasma, but the price is a little friendlier up-front.
You’ll want to decide what type of signal your TV will receive. Some are on the antenna signal, but many are on cable, or even digital cable. While others have opted for the deep dish satellite signals along with the numerous channels that come with it. The TV you decide on should be ready to receive whatever signal you’re going to be using.
Some TVs like the Samsung UE46B7000 can receive multiple types of signals without problem. On the back they contain many different receptors and connectors that will enable you to connect to a variety of signals. Satellite and digital cable use a box for receiving their signals. This is where your S-video cable comes into play. As you can see, buying a TV may not be so simple if you’re not equipped with some TV knowledge. But learning about them is easy, and there’s certainly one out there that will fit you.

Choosing a Cheap Television
October 11, 2009 by Douglas Ross · Leave a Comment
Some readers of this article will remember the time when television was free. All you had to do was to buy a set, attach an antenna, either indoor or outdoor, plug it in and turn on the set. There was no cable or satellite dish. The antenna brought the magic of television to your home. In only a few short years, cable television became popular. Today subscribers can pay from 30 to 100 dollars monthly for cable. That transcribes to 360 to 1200 dollars annually for this service. Here is some great news. For the absolute cheapest TV reception, cut out the cable company.
When all televisions were analog sets, cable grew in popularity because reception was often bad. Pictures often had shadows or snow and in some cases were not viewable. Recently all television was changed to digital broadcasting. Television stations still send out their feed through the airwaves, they are at different frequencies than before. The good news about digital television is that pictures are always clear if there is any reception at all.
By attaching your set to an antenna you will still have access to most of your favorite shows whether the broadcast in the day or at night. The cost to you is absolutely nothing. In addition you will be able to see some sports and local and national news.
If you are addicted to movies, then a less expensive option is to join an online movie rental. The fee is in proportion to the number of movies you wish to check out at one time, but begins at only 5 dollars per month. Within two days of sending one movie in, you will have another in your home. You can watch the movies at your convenience, mail the back and get the next movie in you cue.
Even if you have missed favorite shows, they can be downloaded on the internet and view at another time. Your movie rental club may allow you to download older movies for immediate viewing and this not count against the number of movies you have checked out.
Families are watching less television than they did in previous years. Teens and young adults use personal listening devices for music. Video games have become very popular, and many people are spending much more time in front of a computer than the television.
Think of what you can do with all the money saved by cutting the cable. In a few months time you will have saved enough to buy the big screen you have been wanting.
What happens if there is one evening when nothing is on the local channels and you just sent the last DVD back to the rental site? You get the privilege of turning off the set and getting to know your family once again. Play a game, got to the park or simply sit and talk. Your children will love hearing stories of when you grew up.

Buying a Television Like the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10
October 11, 2009 by Karen Puckett · Leave a Comment
TVs have been around since for about sixty years and have been very popular for around fifty. It is no surprise that people have put the tube at the height of family entertainment and decided that, above all else, TV watching is vital. The Television replaced the radio almost as soon as it came out, and movie studio executives had top secret meetings to decide what they were going to do about the incoming threat. They thought that they were going to lose significant revenue to the sets. Back then there wasn’t much choice when buying, but now Television buying is a whole new ball game.
When shopping for anything it is necessary to make sure that you are getting the best value for your money. This means that you cannot take the first offer that is given, but you need to test the waters a little bit and see what is out there first.
The first thing to do when Television buying is to go to the internet and browse around. You are going to have to spend some time doing this because there are numerous suppliers and they will all try to entice you. There are a lot of good sights that will let you compare different deals that are available on other sites. Check them out and see what is out there.
One option, with the internet is to actually buy the computer in line. This option allows you to see all that is available in the privacy of your own home with out the hassle of a salesman always making life annoying. There are two methods of buying and then picking up the TV though. The first way that you can accomplish this is to go to the website of a major retailer and let them have you pick it up at a local store. This will cut out some of the expense as this is usually included in the price of the TV . The other way that you can do it is to have the set shipped to your home. There is a problem with extra cost though. You will have to pay for shipping and insurance for the set.
Before you go into a store to buy the thing you need to understand what you are talking about. Go in there blind and you waste the sales person’s time and your own. They will respect you more and probably give you as better deal if they don’t think they can gouge you.
Something else that all stores will try to do is sell you a multi-year warranty. They do this because it makes money for the store, but it only ends up costing you a hundred bucks and not saving anything.
Make sure that you ask the sales person what type of deal that you can get in this set. Be willing to haggle a little bit. Usually there is at least a 15% mark up on big items in a store. It can save you money if you understand this.
The last thing that you may hear before you purchase a set like the Panasonic TX-P42X10 is that you can actually get ten percent off if you open a credit card today and purchase it that way. Don’t be a victim. They do this because the store is getting all the profit from this transaction. Understand what is happening during the TV buying transaction and you will have a good experience.
Massage Chair Review For Panasonic EP30004TU Massage Recliner
October 11, 2009 by Yvonne Krugman · Leave a Comment
This review will take a look at one of the Panasonic Real Pro Ultra series of massage chairs. The Real Pro Ultra is the current massage recliner series rolled out by Panasonic. We will look at the EP 30004 model. This chair will be reviewed in 5 key categories. Each category can earn up to 20 points for a total possible score of 100 points. We will evaluate the recliner in each of the following categories: Warranty & Customer Service, Comfort/Ergonomics, Ease of Use, Features and Massage Therapy. Let us see how this massage chair rates..
Warranty & Customer Service: In any transaction one party takes on more risk than the other. Warranty coverage helps to reduce your risk which is especially important on higher ticket items like a massage chair. You want to have long term protection. The EP-30004 is covered with 3 years on the parts and 1 year labor. This is the warranty offered by the manufacturer. It is rather short in comparison to the other top brands, so you really want to consider purchasing an extended warranty. Of course, this also drives the cost of this model up. Customer service is provided by the retailer, so this varies depending on your purchase the chair.
Comfort & Ergonomics: Ergonomics was a hot topic about 10 years ago when everyone started jumping on the bandwagon. However, surprisingly many manufacturers do not pay close attention to this area. The EP-30004 does follow ergonomics very well. It has a detachable head pillow that can easily be adjusted for each user. The armrests come with sufficient padding to support the arms in comfort. The chair back and the seat support the body well and are form fitting. The leg rest can be adjusted an additional five inches. This is really important to fit individual users. Overall we rate this chair an 18 for ergonomics.
Ease of Use: There is a virtual explosion in the features of new massage chairs. This is a wonderful trend that has great implications for consumers. The only downside is to keep the remote controls simple and easy to use in the face of increasing functionality. The EP 30004 has a fairly simple and straightforward remote. If you need assistance using the remote, the Real Pro Ultra comes with a voice guidance system to walk you through the proper steps. This is helpful for first time users or for trying something new with the chair. There are one button automatic controls and there are also manual controls. You can also store your favorite programs for up to 4 different users. We give this chair a 19 for ease of use.
Key Features: There are two important features we want to point out with this chair. The Junetsu massage technique and the shoulder stretch. The Junetsu massage is an ultra fine kneading massage. It is based on how a professional massage therapist loosens up tight muscles. There is a one second thumb like pressure applied with a spiral circular motion. This has the affect of reverberating down through the muscles to the bone. It is very thorough and invigorating. The other key feature to point out is the shoulder stretch. This unique feature is accomplished by activating the air bag in the arm rest to firmly hold the arm. The chair back then reclines to stretch out the arm and shoulder. This is excellent for increasing the mobility and flexibility of the shoulder area. We give the Real Pro Ultra a 19 for its new features.
Massage Therapy: The massage functions built into the Panasonic EP-30004 include both automatic and manual programs. There are four 15-minute Pre-Programs, One 5-minute Quick Program and One 15-minute Self Program. There are 4 full body automatic courses and 5 different massage speed settings. The automatic massage functions include the following: Shiatsu, Gentle, Deep and Refresh. Panasonic has developed its exclusive Junetsu or ultra fine kneading massage system in the Real Pro Ultra. This chair provides high quality and realistically replicated massage therapies. There are two stretching functions. There is a lower body stretch and the shoulder stretch. The lower body is covered with 22 airbags including the hands, arms, buttocks, calves and feet. This chair also provides both Swedish and shiatsu style massages for excellent massage coverage. Overall Rating for the Panasonic EP 30004 massage recliner for massage therapy is 19.
The Panasonic EP 30004 rates as a 90/100. We really like the new and innovative features of this recliner. The shoulder stretch is another important advance for massage chair technology. The Junetsu massage technique provides good deep penetration for those hard to get at areas in the back. The remote is simple to use and comes with the voice guidance feature. The manufacturer’s warranty is a bit on the light side and should be beefed up with the purchase of an extended warranty. The only point of concern we have is the industrial look of the chair. We do not understand why Panasonic continues to neglect the design aesthetics of their massage chair line. But overall, this is a very solid chair from an important manufacturer. If you are in the market for a luxury massage chair, then this one should be on your short list of choices.
Buying A TV Takes Some Education
October 10, 2009 by Beth Walton · Leave a Comment
Buying a TV can be overwhelming when you begin to see just how many different options are going to be thrown your way. All shapes and sizes, thousands of different features, and then multiple brand names to choose from. You need to have a certain amount of TV knowledge in order to make the right choice. Like the difference between analog and HDTV.
You may run into questions like ‘do you need, or do you want, an S-video input’? What about some RCA jacks, do you think you’ll need those? And a digital comb filter, is that absolutely necessary? More questions than these can arise when you get into the different types and uses of the today TV. So learning a little about them goes a long way in your decision.
It’s been a long time believed in this country that the bigger something is the better is must be. That doesn’t always apply, especially in the field of electronics. And as far as your TV goes, it needs to fit the space you intend it for. Smaller ones have you squinting, and larger ones are a blur if they’re not right for that room. You really need to fit the TV to the room when considering what size.
Whenever you shop for TVs and are looking at screens, you should know that size is taken from the diagonal measurement of the screen, not top to bottom. When dealing with a flat-bottom TV you don’t need as much room as with, say, a rear-projection CRT. The flat panel can be hung on the wall and furniture layout doesn’t factor in as much.
If you’re going to shop for one that’s at least forty inches or more, then give some consideration to buying a rear-projection CRT. These babies have been the favorite of home theaters for lots of years. They combine the screen with the projector type function for a very good picture.
The CRT type TV utilizes three cathode ray tubes for combining it’s main hues of red, green, and blue. These types of TVs have been the mainstay of home theaters for many years. They present you with a better investment per dollar, and they always have a great picture with good black level quality.
If there are any drawbacks to the rear-projector CRTs, it’s that they’re heavy and deep in the back. They also don’t perform well under bright lighting. They’re hard in the maintenance department and their viewing angle can be quite narrow. But the quality as far as color and picture go is hard to compete with.
With the flat panel TVs you probably already know how popular they are. Everyone seems to want a flat panel TV. And no wonder, they’re compact and large-screened. They have a lot to offer for convenience and quality as well. You can get them in Plasma or LCD. Plasma lights up thousand of teeny tiny lights to illuminate it’s picture, while the LCD is more akin to a laptop computer in its projection.
Buying a TV requires some knowledge, but it’s not knowledge that’s hard to come by. With just a little bit of research and reading you can go out armed and ready for your TV shopping experience. The main thing is to get one that suits ALL your needs, and one that’s easy on the wallet.
